Alone in the Dark verscheen eerder voor de PS2, Wii, Xbox 360 en pc. De PS3-versie krijgt de ondertitel Inferno, wat er op duidt dat de ontwikkelaar de puntjes op de i heeft willen zetten. Het verhaal blijft in ieder geval hetzelfde. Je neemt de rol op je van Edward Carnby, die lijdt aan geheugenverlies. Je wordt wakker in een gebouw aan de rand van Central Park en hebt werkelijk geen idee hoe je daar bent gekomen. Je ziet niet helemaal helder en wordt naar het dak geleid door een stel louche gasten die jou blijkbaar uit de weg moeten ruimen...
